Well, strangely enough, the move went ok in the end. And there was plenty of room for all our stuff. At least, there is at the moment. I think we're going to have to do some serious digitising. But for the moment I get to sit in a nice sunny office with the window open and a lovely view out across the Leicestershire countryside. Work's still not fun, exactly, what with various things going on, but at least the new office is pleasant!
Oh, and I finished Loughborough, which brings me great joy. :) Some of my favourite records are
Taylor's Bell Foundry,
The Victory Cinema and the
Brush Works. There are a lots of photos for Loughborough records (they came from Charnwood Borough Council), which makes the records much more interesting. Took me a while to figure out what some of the photos were of, though. When I think that every HER record that's online is on there because I've checked it and polished it up, it gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction. I've done over 6,000 so far. Will take me a while to finish it...
John came to visit for the May bank holiday weekend, so we did a few unusual things. We went to
Calke Abbey, which is well worth a visit. Very strange place. Parts of it are refurbished, though the place is packed full of all sorts of random things the owners collected (dead animals, minerals, fossils, sea shells - there's a room with glass cases overflowing with odd things). Parts of it have been stablised but left in a state of decay. Really weird. But interesting! Also went to a car boot sale (disappointing but I bought a Jenson Button hat!) and a garden centre. Nothing madly exciting, but it was good spending some time with John over the long weekend. Oh, and Rob and I did a lot of cleaning. (Woo!)
Can't think what else I've been up to. Hmm. Played
Heavy Rain through to the end - am replaying bits now to see what happens. It was brilliant! Lots of suspense, a story without too many plot holes... I didn't guess who the murderer was. If people could make more interactive story type games that were this good, I'd definitely play them.
Obviously the general election happened. I guess we will have to wait and see how that works out. Hopefully the coalition will work without everyone becoming disillusioned and angry! Hmm.
