So, a couple of weeks have passed...
We watched Eurovision, it was entertaining though a little odd. I thought Hungary was the best, though a bit normal to do well in the contest. The winning song wasn't particularly memorable. And the UK entry was embarrassing, yikes!
We finally bought a new sofa, it fits pretty well. It is bigger than the last one but is a lot comfier, probably worth the reduction in living room space. It is
this one - Salen. Took a bit of construction work but all in all wasn't bad for the money, I'm glad Ikea started delivering, they never have the sofas in stock. So that was exciting. :)
I joined
Facebook, and although it is a bit suspicious I think it's been worth it so far. I've found a few friends I haven't talked to in ages and it's a fun way of keeping in touch with people. As long as Facebook doesn't sell all my information to nefarious companies.
This weekend my brother John came to visit again, we did various things including going to our friend Mark's branch of B&Q to buy a garden shredder. We reduced lots of garden waste to very small chippings, it was brilliant! It was a
Hullabaloo Takeover at church, went pretty well, we did 'Amazing Grace' to the tune of 'In the Jungle' as one of the songs (sounds like it won't work but it really does). And we went down the canal and fed ducks, moorhens, horses (and Rex the dog who was with us and likes bread), then ate lunch at the tea room by King's Lock. Yum.
There was a fire really near our house on Saturday, they were using a hydrant thing on the corner of our road. There were lots of fire engines. For a while there was a rain of ash and water, the smoke was horrible. It was
an old club, looks like arson.
Though clearly
this is a lot worse, what sort of stupid person would set fire to a historic tea clipper? :(
That's about it really. For the first time in a while it's a nice sunny evening, I think it's supposed to be sunny for the next few days. Hooray!
