Been ages since I last posted, sorry about that. I've been having a few computer problems...
Rob wanted to buy a bunch of stuff to make a new Vista-based PC, and at the same time we thought we'd get a socket 939 dual core processor for mine. It's a Biostar IDEQ 330P, and that's meant to work with socket 939 dual cores, according to their website. But it didn't work, so we upgraded the BIOS (had to make a bootable CD), and that basically killed it. So to cut a long story short we managed to sort of get back to where we'd been to start with. Except for the fact it's a noisy thing with an old version of the BIOS and has none of my stuff on it (had to reformat the hard drive). We asked Biostar and they were helpful to begin with, but haven't heard anything for two weeks now. They wanted to know the serial number of my IDEQ since apparently there was an engineering update to make the thing run newer processors. But I have heard nothing since.
I don't want to spend hours making everything how I like it again until I know what the deal is, if you know what I mean. Aaargh... So I'm using Rob's Vista PC, which is ok. Vista has some nice touches. Got a bit confused trying to move stuff around in explorer, but I suppose you get used to these things.
Have probably done lots since blogging last. We did go to Essex and visit my parents, saw lots of classic cars (including the car from
Life on Mars). I've been to
Alton Towers, which was fun in a queuing sort of way.
Air was good. We did various things with my brother John that weekend since he visited to come to the theme park with us.
I'll probably stop rambling now. I will endeavour to blog more, I suppose I'll have to decide whether to give up on Biostar at some point and just reinstall everything. D'oh!
