XVThey travelled non-stop, travelling east from Cairo to Suez. It was a journey of about 70 miles, and it was slow in the huge truck. Thankfully the Nazis didn't catch up. Their vehicles must have been too damaged to attempt a pursuit.
Suez would mark the beginning of a long journey by boat. The port was famous for being at the mouth of the Suez canal, but there would be no escape that way. Any trip through the Mediterranean, past the countries of the Axis, would be too dangerous. The only way to get to America was to go around the coast of Africa. It was a long and dangerous journey, but it would get the Stargate to safety.
Indy waved them off, watching Catherine disappear into the distance, her hair gently stirring in the warm Egyptian breeze.
Maybe now he'd have time for that bath.

THE ENDI hope at least some people have read this and enjoyed it! I wrote it in 2003 and had forgotten most of it. I kind of like it. :)
Work's been quite funny today. I'm in a team of four people at work - me (Historic Environment Record Officer/Assistant Planning Archaeologist), Lucy (Planning Archaeologist), John (Historic Landscape Characterisation Officer) and Richard (Senior Planning Archaeologist). So there aren't many of us. Anyway, we were highly amused that Richard was being constantly pestered by the press because of the
Roman skeletons found at the Enderby Park and Ride site.
Richard ended up doing radio and TV interviews - it's been on ITV Central and East Midlands Today this evening. I hear it was on the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning. And Radio Leicester did a thing about it. Richard spent most of the day dealing with the press. We were just quite perplexed as to why this is such big news! It's not really all that new and it's not even the most exciting archaeology we've found in the county lately. I found it odd that the BBC hadn't really figured out the connection between this story:
Roman bones at park-and-ride site and this story:
Iron Age bodies at park-and-ride (yes, they are the same skeletons).
Anyway, the coverage I saw on ITV Central was actually pretty good. :)
