I have been counting how many Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (I'm sorry, Ninja Turtles) there are on the buses. On the sides, the adverts, not actually ON the buses. So far I have seen many Michaelangelos and a couple of Leonardos, but no Donatellos or Rafaels. Terrible. Feels weird to think Turtles have come around again... *sigh*

This week we've had a few meals round people's houses, which has been nice, and played quite a lot of WoW. Saturday we tried to have lunch with Rob's parents but they went to a garden centre far away from where we were waiting (Countesthorpe, not Ullesthorpe). We did manage to have lunch, must have been about an hour later than planned, but still.

Yesterday the clocks changed (one hour forward), so I was really tired this morning. Why do the clocks have to change? I wish we could just stay on GMT and not bother with BST. Boo.

We went to see our friend Will's band this evening, Theories (or possibly The Theories). They were pretty good. I'm not very good at gigs in small places, they tend to be loud and I'm not very good at loud. I can't really hear much, though I suppose that's the same for everyone. I don't think that it's because I'm getting old, I think I've always been like that. But they were good. Didn't stay for the other people, left after seeing Will. :)

Watching bands makes me wish I had some people to play with, I only get to play in church. I did play Sunday morning, it was fun... I don't think I'm that good, and (let's face it) pretty much everyone else in the world can play a bass guitar after about five minutes, but it's like I can feel the rhythm and the bass line inside me and it comes out when I have a guitar in my hands. (That sounds weird.)

Guess that's about it for now!

Can't think that I've done much this week. Hmm. Did lots of work, some church stuff, nothing all that interesting that I can think of. Friday evening we watched Comic Relief on TV. Top Gear of the Pops was funny!

We did go to Ullesthorpe Garden Centre for lunch yesterday, with our friends Danny and Megan. Rob thought they'd appreciate cake. It is very nice cake. :)

Oh, and in the evening I watched Making your mind up to choose the UK's Eurovision song. I voted for Hawkins and Brown's song, which I liked a lot. I liked the Big Brovaz song too. But Scooch's song won, silly Europop thing that it is. Ah well, it's kind of amusing, I suppose.

I dragged myself out of bed at 2.50am this morning to watch the Formula One, though I did snooze through most of it. I don't think it was that exciting, though who knows? I was probably asleep during the good bits. Watching Lewis Hamilton was fun, though I feel sorry for all the other British drivers. They really weren't having much luck, and chances are things won't improve much for them this year...

Went to see Rob's mum and dad this afternoon, since it's Mothers Day. And also, it snowed! And will possibly snow more. Supposed to get 'wintry showers'. Ooh. It was so warm yesterday, it seems odd that it's so cold now. I had a theory that the reason the British talk about the weather so much is that it changes so often and is so unpredictable. Maybe that's true. I don't know. ;)

I have completed Guitar Hero II on medium! Though now I have to go back and do five or so of the songs over and over until I get 5 stars on them... But at least now I have unlocked Freebird, so Ali will be happy.

I noticed that I haven't actually managed to get 5 stars on all the easy songs, I have to go back and do that to unlock another guitar. Hum.

Fun fun fun.

Sunday, March 11

My brother John turned up unexpectedly on Wednesday so we've been doing stuff with him for most of this week. It was a nice surprise. :)

Wednesday evening we went and saw Hot Fuzz, which was very funny (by the power of Grayskull!). Definitely well worth watching. I don't think it has quite the wide appeal that people think it will have, since I'm sure some of the people who've said it looked funny wouldn't really approve of the gory bits or the bad language... It was good though, hehe... And I didn't just like it because it had Timothy Dalton in it.

Thursday evening we, erm, watched The Living Daylights, which we did watch purely because it had Timothy Dalton in it. :)

I had half the day off on Friday and John, Ali and I went to the Deli in the Nook to buy lunch then on to Swithland Wood. We took Rex the dog and had a bit of a walk. The humans among us managed to escape getting too muddy, but Rex didn't!

Saturday John, Rob and I went to Tesco. Now this may not sound exciting, but John wanted to go to Beaumont Leys to see the travelator. Ooooh. Managed to spend quite a bit on clothes and CDs and DVDs (the exciting stuff you have to use the travelator to get to!). In the evening we met Rob's parents and sister to eat chinese food.

Today we all went to church in the morning, and John went home after lunch. Boooooo.

So that's about it really for even vaguely exciting things this week!

Was about 4 1/2 miles altogether. And what made the weekend even better was that my brother John came to visit! Hooray!

He has a bowler hat, go figure.
