Last time I blogged I had no idea why it had been so hard getting home Tuesday evening (Saffron Lane in Leicester had been closed). It was eerie walking down what is normally a very busy road with no cars about. It turned out that a grandmother and mother had been taking a little girl to school and were killed by a car that drove along the wrong side of the road then flipped onto the pavement. You can read about it here. Tragic stuff. There are loads of flowers next to the site of the crash, which is just opposite my morning bus stop. If I'd been catching a bus less than an hour later than usual I would have seen the accident...
Friday evening my Mum and Dad came up to visit. They turned up earlier than I was expecting them and came to help at the Kids Club we do on every other Friday. Which was nice. Saturday they helped clear out the cellar - Mum's suggestion, I thought she'd rather go out somewhere for the day but she thought she'd help me get something done. It's not like we'd managed to do it and I'd wanted to for ages, so... hooray! It turned out that the carpet down there had become rather damp and mouldy, mainly because the person who'd owned the house before us had put sheets of wood over the carpet, so that the damp couldn't escape. It's very tidy down there now. There were many trips to the tip.
Sunday I played bass at church in the morning, then Rob, Ali and I went to Steam Toys in Action at Abbey Pumping Station. The main reason my parents had come to visit was so that they could demonstrate/sell Pop Pop Boats. They were doing a roaring trade! They hardly had time to talk, so we had some very cheap and very tasty cake and hot beverages and looked at all the other bits and pieces there. The parents went home straight from the event.
We've been playing The Burning Crusade a bit, we made Draenei characters. I have a mage called Harmonique. I never managed to get very far being a mage, it's probably a new record for me! The new starting zone is extremely well done. I've been enjoying it a lot.
Yesterday we went to get a new hamster! Her name is Holly and she's black and white (or very dark brown and white, I'm not entirely sure). It took a long time to decide upon a name. She seems to like chewing and climbing. She's very good at climbing. She wasn't very good at all yesterday, she kept falling off, but she's improved a lot with all the practice. She can even climb on the vertical bars on the two shorter sides of the cage, it's very impressive.
I should go to bed I suppose, have to make sure I keep warm since the temperature's supposed to be pretty low tonight - minus 5 degrees C I think. Brrrr. I don't know if it's really going to snow this week but it's certainly being very cold and frosty.
Bye!
